Bloomington’s Spring Break Chicago
By Leah Iverson, Bloomington Center
From the Shedd Aquarium to Mary Poppins, we saw as much as we could of the wonderful Midwestern “Windy City,” Chicago.
The Museum of Science and Industry, The Art Institute of Chicago, and the Shedd Aquarium were all favorite spots on the trip. We concluded each day with delicious dinners at The Rainforest Café, a great restaurant in Greektown and classic deep dish Chicago pizza.

Berkeley Weekend Ski Trip to Tahoe
By Allison Lahl, Berkeley Center
I am happy to report that CIP Berkeley’s first overnight trip was a success! Mitchell, Scott, Spencer, Stefan, and I enjoyed a lovely weekend in Arnold, CA with the Environmental Traveling Companions program.
On Saturday, we went to Bear Valley, where all the students received a cross-country skiing lesson. Some of the students were old pros, while others were completely new to the sport. Regardless of their experience or skill level, all of the students really enjoyed skiing and had a great time exploring the trails.

We don’t pay attention to the stress our body endures by tasting a lemon or feeling a tag on the back of your shirt. But for sensory sensitive individuals these sensations can be overwhelming.

Fantasy Role-Playing & Social Mentoring
By Jim Walsh, Bloomington Center
Dungeons & Dragons can best be described as an unfolding story where you and other players are the main characters. It is part board game, part choose-your-own-adventure novel, and playing requires a small amount of narrative improv, or role-playing. The action takes place through narration, as if someone were telling you a story, only you decide all the main character’s background, choices, actions, and speak for him or her.
