Summer Program Success!
What a wonderful group of 12 students from California, Alabama, Oregon, Washington, DC, Puerto Rico, Indiana, and Alaska!
This very cohesive and inclusive group of students bonded within the first few hours. Amidst the educational activities, summer students had a chance to intermix with Berkeley upperclassmen, heading out on beautiful days to Alcatraz, an A’s baseball game and Six Flags amusement park.

Transitioning Into Independence
Hard-working students have more to look forward to

We knew things were going to be different the day that we arrived at our new apartment. We are now technically off the Berkshire center campus. While we still have staff to fallback on, it feels like we will being doing much more on our own. It’s a very exciting experience for both of us. We feel more independent than we ever have.

Brevard Center Internship Spotlight
Touring at The Rossetter House Museum

If you visit The Historical Rossetter House Museum in Melbourne, Florida, you might meet Moultrie Woodall, a Brevard Center student who is interning there. Moultrie does a variety of jobs, from helping maintain the grounds to guiding tours. āIām never doing the same things twice,ā he says.

Right On Track

The Bloomington Center is proud to announce the successful completion of study for Margaret Maclean and her certification in medical coding. On June 15, 2009 Maggie passed her national board certification exam for Certified Coding Associate (CCA).
This accomplishment marked the final goal of a 3 year plan with the College Internship Program that included courses of study at Ivy Tech State College, an internship at Volunteers in Medicine and countless hours of planning and preparation for her step into self-reliance and independence.

Mike’s Sound Excursion: Episode 1
A CIP Bloomington student’s video blog
Mike Toran and student advisor Jim Walsh worked together over the course of 3 social mentor sessions to create the following video blog.
The video is an informative review on the independent record labels Mike loves. The goal of the project is to improve presentation, time management, flexibility in experimentation and proactive planning using a combination of multimedia and a student’s special interest.
