Brevard Center Internship Spotlight: Baer Air
By Janet Hrezo, Brevard Center
Jay Mikush, a first year student at the Brevard Center, is a young man with his head in the clouds. His goal is to be a pilot and he’s currently working on a private pilot’s license. His internship at Baer Air, a charter jet service in Melbourne, is a perfect match for him since it gives him the opportunity to learn about all aspects of aviation.
Interning at an air charter service can be challenging since preparing for a flight involves a number of activities ranging from maintenance checks to flight scheduling but Jay enjoys being a part of it all. Recently, Jay flew “right seat” on a round trip to the Bahamas which was a particularly exciting experience for him. “I’m working hard,” says Jay, “and I feel like I’m getting a lot out of it.”
Jay also enjoys the time when his feet are on the ground. “I really like my co-workers. Their attitude is friendly and they make it a nice place to work.”
Baer Air is an FAA Certified air charter service that offers flights to destinations in the US and Caribbean. They operate a fleet of twin-engine jets and turbo-prop aircraft from their headquarters in Melbourne, Florida. If you’d like to learn more about Baer Air, they can be found at www.flybaerair.com.
